“What do you collect? What favorite things have you accumulated
over the years that you now lovingly display around your home? I hope you
collect something that you love with a passion.” Sarah Ban Breathnach
The past several years I have
tried different tables and nothing has ever felt right to me. This summer I was on a quest to find a
nightstand for myself. My husband talked
me into using an old desk because it matched that our bedroom set. I like the big space on top however I did not
like the openness on the bottom.
I thought it would be great if I
could put two baskets underneath. Off to Target I ran to get two baskets. I was excited about my idea, however, only one basket fit. I
had a hard time arranging my books on it as well.
Then one day my son, Andy, came home and wanted that
old desk for his apartment. He needed a small space for this computer.
So I let him take the desk and I
put my stuff on my wicker hamper.
A few weeks later, I found a wonderful table at
World Market the only problem, it needed to be painted white.
It took me a couple of weeks to
get it painted white and put together. Today I
added contact paper to the drawers and some decorative paper to the front of
the drawers.
Now when I walk in my bedroom I
see something I truly love. The
nightstand brings me some pleasure knowing all the hard work and love I put
into the project.
The nightstand is now home to all
the little things I like to have near me at night.
