The happiness project
By: Gretchen Rubin
The Happiness Project is all about changing your life in small ordinary
ways each day. Gretchen writes mainly
about how she worked through the project in one year and as she wrote she
outlined ideas that you can do to start your own happiness project.
Now
I would not say I am unhappy, however I could certainly use some improvement. Here are the questions Gretchen writes that
you and I need to start thinking about before we start our own happiness project?
What
brings you JOY, SATISFACTION and GUILT/REMORSE and causes ANGER?
What
are the Commandments you live by Daily?
What
are the life lessons that guide your life right now, for better or worse?
What
is something you could give up that would make your life better?
What
are your TRUE RULES? The Most Important
Priorities in your life?
What
is your MENTAL AREA OF REFUGE?
Gretchen
writes about the difference between setting up goals and resolutions. Goals are something you can “HIT.” Resolutions are something that you keep daily
there is never a finishing point, because you are always working on the
resolution because you “resolve to do it everyday—FOREVER.”
And
if you forget
or fail…you start over that minute…. and continuing working on
your resolution.
Important Quotes I want to
remember from the book:
“Within a marriage, it takes at least 5 good acts to
repair the damage of 1 critical or destructive act.”
“Love proves itself by deeds, so how am I to show my love?....The
only way I can prove my love is by……every little sacrifice, every
glance and word….” Saint Therese
“Life is so much better when you are happy with who you are
because you kept your promises.”
“Do good…..feel good”
“When one loves, one does not calculate.” Saint Therese
