2014 Reading Log

The Daniel Plan is a book about facing the truth, recognizing your weaknesses and TRANSFORMING your life honestly by making healthy choices daily with God’s help.   This book has motivated me to try again to work on getting healthy in a positive way.  My review is more about me than the book, however the book is really worth your time and has lots of great advice.

The Happiness Project, By:  Gretchen Rubin, is all about changing your life in small ordinary ways each day.  Gretchen writes mainly about how she worked through the project in one year and as she writes she outlines ideas that you can do to start your own happiness project.  Her book is very thoughtful and insightful and it gives you an ideas to how she worked through the whole process herself.  I wrote more of my notes in this blog post.

Things Good Mothers Should Know is a wonderful book.  I enjoyed the book and agreed with so much that she said.  I wish someone had given me this book when I was younger.  So much wisdom.Read my notes here.

The book, Notes From a Blue Bike, by Tsh Oxenreider recounts the last few years of Tsh's life and what has lead to the decisions she makes, but when it really comes down to all her experiences there is a underlining purpose.slowing down and living the life she wants to live. Read more of my thoughts and reflection here.

Farm-Fresh Recipes from the Missing Goat Farm is an amazing cookbook with stories and photographs OH!!!!!! and don’t forget the yummy recipes that will melt your heart.  This book is charming. Read my notes here....

The Gifts of Imperfection:  Let Go of Who You're Suppose to Be and Embrace Who You Are  This is a good book to help you rethink your priorities in life.  You do not need to make everything perfect.  Yikes, I cannot believe I am typing that!  Read how the book inspired me here...

Rediscover Catholicism
A Spiritual Guide To Living With Passion & Purpose
By: Matthew Kelly

I have to admit I did not pick this book out myself.  It was given to everyone at church.  So it is homework from Church.  I am not complaining because I have enjoyed the other books that I have read by Matthew Kelly. Would I have picked this book on my own. probably not.   Did I learn from this book?  Yes!  Did the book challenge me to think?  Yes!   The book is about living and understanding the Catholic way of life.   Read more of my thoughts HERE!

Holy Simplicity
The Little Way of Mother Teresa, Dorothy Day & Therese of Lisieux
By:  Joel Schorn

After reading the books The Happiness Project and Rediscover Catholicism I developed an interest in St. Therese of Lisieux and Mother Teresa.  So when I saw this book with information about both Saints I thought why not.  It took me a while to read the book mainly because school started and I just didn’t have time to read but I finally made it through the book.   Read more about my thoughts here.

This little book is a useful guide to help you set up a checklist of things to do to get ready and organized for Christmas.  When you are organized there will be less hustle and bustle in your life.  Click Here to read my review.

This was truly a beautiful book.  I enjoyed reading this book.  It helped me rethink how and why it is important to do things.  It was a gentle reminder of why it is important to live within your means and make time for the important things in your life.  Read More Here.....
